TOUGH GIG

Welcome to Billy Bob, who wastes a scammer's time and, in this piece, trots out more alter egos than his rival, while demonstrating classic scambaiting technique such as pickiness about details, with resultant time-wasting.

Mr Steve Oki

A standard 419 letter claiming wicked government officials have prevented me from collecting the money due me. A ludicrous, from a computer science standpoint, of having a hard disk painted RED which prevents funds from being released . I could understand the data being blocked off from access or marked as ineligible.

Good Day,
I am Mr Steve Oki. A computer scientist with Central Bank of Nigeria. I am 28 years old, just started work with Central Bank of Nigeria I came across your file which was marked X and your released disk painted RED, I took time to study it and found out that you have paid VIRTUALLY all fees and certificate but the fund has not been release to you.

The most annoying thing is that they cannot tell you the truth that on no account will they ever release the fund to you.

Please this is like a Mafia setting in Nigeria; you may not understand it because you are not a Nigeria.

The only thing I will need to release this fund is a special HARD DISK we call it HD120 GIG. I will buy two of it, recopy your information and destroy the previous one, and transfer your funds within four banking working days.

I will clean up the tracer and destroy your file, after which I will run away from Nigeria to meet with you in your country.

If you are interested,Do get in touch with me immediately, You should send to me your convenient cell phone numbers for easy communications and also re confirm your home address and your full name and telephone number.

Thanks,
Mr Steve Oki
Computer Scientist, Central Bank of Nigeria

Billy Bob's reply - unavailable to Scamorama - was apparently encouraging enough for Mr Oki to forge on with the scam attempt.

Mr Steve Oki

He replies but now the disk has a red mark. Needs a special disk using common acronyms: HD (Hard Drive) 120 (size) GIG (misspelling of GB or gigabyte). He wants me to send him $150 US via Western Union (a surprise!) but forgets to give me the recipient name and address . an inexperienced amateur

Billy Bob

Let us get some more information on this "special disk" (like manufacturer and model) and on the qualifications of our "computer scientist" friend

Dear Steve:
Such an interesting explanation.
I am curious to know that manufacturer and model of this special hard disk, HD120 GIG. It sounds so intriguing.
You did not give any further details about the Western Union order.
It is so interesting to meet a computer scientist from the Central Bank of Nigeria and so competent as well. May I ask what universities you attended, your degrees, and the subject of your theses? What are your specialities and sub-specialties? Do you have any publications? If so, please list them as I am dying to read them.
I look forward to you reply.

-- Billy

Mr Steve Oki

As expected, our friend tries to dodge these questions. He wants the money.

Respected Mr.Billy Bob
If you really need my help to recover your USD7.5M i advise that you do the right thing by sending the USD150 for this special hard disk called { HD120 GIG } and you definately see me in action.
Thanks,
Mr Steve Oki
Billy Bob

Question his qualifications once again. But let's 'send' the money. Bring up the subject that I need further details to send a Western Union money order.

Dear Steve:
You really should answer my questions which are simple enough for a person, with your qualifications, to answer. Being a computer scientist, these questions are quite routine and easily answered.I know of no computer scientist who could not or would not answer these type of questions.

in any case, in regards to sending the USD 150, I would need further details before I could do that such as recipient's name, address, postal code, country, et al.
-- Billy

Mr Steve Oki

Realises part of his mistake and gives me the recipient's details

For the kind attention of Mr.Billy Bob

I still maintained that { HD120 GIG }.is a special hard disk i need to recover your USD7.5M.

All i need from you is to send USD150 and you shall me in good action which will be in your good favour.

I advise that you send USD150 via western union money transfer to the officer in-charged of this special hard disk whose name below is

IFY NWANZE
City { LAGOS }
Country { NIGERIA }

Any money coming to Nigeria must have a text question and answer. You should state your own text question and answer to the USD150

If you can send USD150 today thursday or latest satuday, you will not regret sending the USD150.

Thanks,
Mr Steve Oki

Probably neither 'Steve Oki' and 'Ify Nwanze' are names to which the scammer is entitled.
They may or may not be one person.
The names aren't rare and probably belong to lots of real people unconnected with, and unaware of this sordid affair.
But you knew all that.

Billy Bob

Inform him of the 'money' being sent and the test question

Dear Steve:
The money order has been sent. The text question and answer will follow in a separate email, for security reasons.

Looks like Finnish - when in doubt, throw umlauts at 'em!

Mr Steve Oki

Starts to accuse me of being deceitful and to be pitied (surprising how self-righteous these scammers are) because I did not send the MTCN number which he did not request. Slips up once again and uses another alias.

Billy Bob
Stop deceiving yourself. You never sent the USD150.
I advise you to send the USD150 through western union money transfer. Where is the MTCN or control number.
You are a deceiver. I pity you.
Steve Walker
Billy Bob

Point out his dual alias use and the fact that he never asked for a MTCN

Dear Steve Oki/Walker:
I am to be "pitied" because I am a "deceiver". yet it is you who cannot decide if your name is Steve Oki or Steve Walker. What is your real name?
You asked me to send me a Western Union order for USD 150 (I do have all the emails) but never specified who it was to be sent to. Not organised at all.
When I then asked you to send me the name of the recipient, you did so and told me to send the test question and answer. I sent you the test question in a separate email. The answer was to follow. In which email, did you ask for the MCTN number? It was never requested by you yet you now claim that I am deceptive and I should have sent it to you. You can't make a claim for deception for something that you never asked for.

-- Billy Bob

Mr Steve Oki

Accuses me of not being 'real'. And to buttress his argument, he shows the previous email which clearly does not have any request for a MTCN.

Mr Billy Bob
Find below the previous mail i sent to you on how to send the USD15O. Be real for you are not real.
My name is Steve Oki.
Steve Walker was a mistake.

Billy Bob

Time for the 'slap'.

Oga = boss (also general polite honorific)

Dear Steve:
You are a foolish clown of a man. First, the email that you sent contains NO request to send the MTCN number, only the test question and answer. If you bothered to read your own email in the first place, this would be apparent.
a) You can not keep your aliases straight. First, you are Steve Oki then you slip up and use an alias used in another one of your scams. Steve Walker. Your Oga would not be pleased if he knew of your mistake.
b) The Central Bank of Nigeria does not hire people of your low calibre, except to clean toilets (as they state upon verification of your "credentials").
Perhaps, this is a career you should aspire to.
d) your charade as an extremely stupid mugu who poses as a computer scientist has been posted on the Internet so others can laugh at you for the fool that you are. I imagine that when your Oga hears of it, you will get the beating that your foolishness deserves.

Still no address to send the Western Union order to. Will this scammer ever learn? Let us ask for more details.

Dear Steve:

I received your email. As you surmised, I do need your help.
Your plan is interesting. I may need more details before proceeding

Rev John.

Mr Steve Oki

Apparently, my simple request for more information causes him to boil over.

John
you are a bastard human being. you are a mother fucker.
i have removed your file from my file.
dont ever in your life communicate to me again
Reverend John

Such vile and profane language, from someone who portends to be a highly-educated professional, to a man of the cloth! Any professional knows how to express themselves adequately, without resorting to obscenities and threats. I shall report your inexcusable conduct to the Nigerian Computer Society.

Thus endeth the scambait.
