Welcome back to the devious hive-mind behind Eliza Dane, Mal Reynolds and the rest, who have graced this site many times.

ARE YOU WITH ME OR NOT?

Would you believe... yes?

This is the first baiting exploit in which Bradley Morrihan, cheerful outback larrikin, plays the role of primary baiter.

The Scammers

Dr Michael Sawadogo, "the director in charge of credit and exchange section of Bank Of Africa,(BOA) Ouagadougou Burkina-faso West Africa"
Alhaji Anane Compuore, of the "FOREIGN REMITTANCE DEPT" of the same bank
Gerald Obialor, barrister
Mrs Commyway/Iteogou Comfort, Secretary to Gerald Obialor – and yes, that's her name, forward slash and all

The Baiters

Bradley Morrihan, outback larrikin with a spelling quirk; named for the artist character in the film Age of Consent (played by James Mason)
Nelson Fadaka, fake scammer
Cammy White, one of my two major baiter personae, has a very minor cameo in this bait.

Western Union plays no part in this bait – yes, you read that right!

Two things to bear in mind: firstly, all Lad emails are presented in the same format (font type and colour) as I received them, and secondly, Bradley's bad spelling is deliberate.

Now that we've settled that...

Dr Michael Sawadogo

21 June 2008
DR MICHAEL SAWADOGO
CREDIT AND EXCHANGE MANAGER,
BANK OF AFRICA(BOA).
OUAGADOUGOU, BURKINA-FASO.

Dear Friend..
TOP SECRET
I am Dr Michael Sawadogo, the director in charge of credit and exchange section of Bank Of Africa,(BOA) Ouagadougou Burkina-faso West Africa with due respect and regard. I have decided to contact you on a business transaction that will be very beneficial to both of us at the end of the transaction .

During our investigation and auditing in this bank, my department came across a very huge sum of money belonging to a deceased person who died on Monday, 31 July, 2000, in a plane crash and the fund has been dormant in his account with this Bank without any claim of the fund in our custody either from his family or relation beforeour discovery to this development.

The said amount was U..S $4.2M (Four million two hundred United States dollars). As it may interest you to know, I got your impressive information through the Burkina-faso chamber of commerce on foreign business relations here in Ouagadougou Burkina-faso.

Meanwhile all the whole arrangement to put claim over this fund as the bonafide next of kin to the deceased, get the required approval and transfer this money to a foreign account has been put in place and directives and needed information will be relayed to you as soon as you indicate your interest and willingness to assist me and also benefit your self to this great business opportunity.

In fact I could have done this deal alone but because of my position in this country as a civil servant(A Banker),we are not allowed to operate a foreign account and would eventually raise an eye brow on my side during the time of transfer because I work in this bank.

This is the actual reason why it will require a second party or fellow who will forward claims as the next of kin with affidavit of trust of oath to the Bank and also present a foreign account where he will need the money to be re-transferred into on his request as it may be after due verification and clarification by the correspondent branch of the bank where the whole money will be remitted from to your own designation bank account.

I will not fail to inform you that this transaction is 100% risk free. On smooth conclusion of this transaction, you will be entitled to 30% of the total sum as gratification, while 10% will be set aside to take care of expenses that may arise during the time of transferring the fund and also telephone bills, while 60% will be for me. Please, you have been adviced to keep "top secret" as I am still in service and intend to retire from service after i conclude this deal with you.

I will be monitoring the wholesituation here in this bank until you confirm the money in your account and ask me to come down to your country for subsequent sharing of the fund according to percentages previously indicated and further investment, either in your country or any country you advice us to invest in. All other necessary vital information will be sent to you when I hear from you.

I look forward to receive your email

Thanks
My Regards.
Dr Michael Sawadogo

[Scam-o-note: This is your basic Dead Bank Customer letter.]

Dear Brad Morrihan

How are you?I got your mail and also the document's that you receive from the bank, yes, the bank need those documents, that is original copy of it,which is the fresh document's and we shall get those document's through Burkina court,But the warst of it is that they want you to come dawn here in person and sign some paper work or those documant't by yourself and i have think about the hole thing i don't know what to do,because the bank may ask you some question concerning the die man which you can not get correct and you know that i will not be there with you too. However, before we go further from here i want to know if you can come here? And let me think about this too as soon as i hear from you ,i will tell you what to do.

Waiting to hear from you

[Scam-o-note: Standard scammer SOP: either convince the victim to travel to a certain place to be scammed in person with, for instance, the wash-wash or dirty money technique; or else kindly offer to handle the paperwork for the victim, which will involve legal fees - a money order will do nicely. It takes a bit of money and teamwork to handle scenario 1, and the loot must be shared; picking up a money order is the cheaper option for a scammer.]

Bradley Morrihan

[Let's see how they react to the possibility of Brad travelling to Burkina Faso... any bets on their reactions?

The Amazing Race episode in question was playing at the time.]

Mr Sawadogo,

I saw that too – it's a hell of a thing to arrange in a hurry. Cuold you please check what I need to get there in terms of visas and so on?

Funny thing – I was watching a TV prog last night called The Amazing Race – it's a sort of raelity show in which abuot a dozen cuoples or piars are in a race to get to certian places and do certian things and the prize is a milloin dollars.

Last night they were in Burkina Faso and ended up getting to the big town hall in Ouaguoduoguo at the end of one leg after having to iether pan for gold or do a dance ruotine, and then deliver goods in a market by bike. Burkina Faso looks pretty poor, thuogh better off than places like Seirra Leone or Zimbabwe!

Plaese get back to me soon.

Brad Morrihan

Dr Michael Sawadogo

[Thought so – the idea fills him with concern... though his attempts to dissuade Brad seem a bit half-hearted.]

04 July 2008

Dear Brad Morrihan

How are you? and i got your mail,Hence you have decided to come dawn here in Burkina Faso i am very very happy to hear from you,I don't know how much it may cost you both coming here and geting the document's or the visa,Now my surggetion is that i want you to write to the bank and inform them that you are coming dawn here for sign off the paper works,so that they will transfer the fund into your account or can you write to them and tell them that they should give you lawyer that can help you to procure all those document's and sign the fund out on your behalf, may be you ahve to tell them that you can not come dawn in person do to the nature of your job, just one excuse or the other,i hope you get me right ,i only just looking in a way the it will be so easy for us ok

Concerning what you saw in Burkina Faso is really fact that is how my country is,been the capital is called Ouagoudougou and is the place i am right now,but only the people that have there money enjoy here,Also you can see reason why i want this money to change my live and better for my family,so that my children will call me father aswell.

I will be waiting to hear from you, please have you got your telephone numbre so that we can still talk on phone concerning this transaction.

I will be waiting to hear from you.

Thanks and God bless
Michael Sawadogo

Bradley Morrihan

[Give a little ground...]

Mr Sawadogo,

I thuoght yuo'd be able to give some advice as my local contact – too bad I geuss!

Actaully coming to Burkina Faso might not be so aesy – DFAT says that travellers should get yellow fever vaccinatoins and I'd need a certificate to prove it to get a visa. I think that it takes a fiar while for those sorts of jabs to take effect – weeks possibly.

Wuold that be a problem?

Brad Morrihan

Dr Michael Sawadogo

[He's still worried though.

I wonder what a PTA is?

I got your mail,i think you did not understand me very well, base on the last email which i sent to you,i want you to listen to me very well,i have seen coming dawn here in Burkina Faso will cost you alot,eg.Air ticket,vaccinations,card,P.T.A and all the process of getting visa to come over here is too much,so that is why i said that you should write to the bank to issue you there bank attorney, who will help us do this job on your behalf,so that as soon as you contact the attorney, then we will know the cost of his service,if it will be easy for us from that way and this is what i mean ok.

I hope you will get me right.

i will be waiting to hear from you

Thanks and God bless
Michael Sawadogo

Bradley Morrihan

Mr Sawadogo,

Mate, I can make my own decisoins, thank you very much! I'm simply considering the optoins and here yuo are lecturing me like some bloody schooltaecher or something. Is it so difficult for yuo to traet me as a partner and not as some bloody inferoir?

As it happens, I was seroiusly rethinking travel becuase of time constriants, not cost! Hell, yuo siad that 10% wuold be set aside to cover expenses, so what's the problem?

And I wuoldn't mind an explanatoin of this lot; Air ticket,vaccinations,card,P.T.A - the first two are claer enuogh, but I have no idae what card and PTA are all abuot.

Now plaese give me a striaght answer withuot any waffle or talking down – we're supposed to be eqauls in this, after all.

Dear Brad Morrihan

How are you?i got your mail and i wonder if we are doing transaction or love letter's?please be serious over this deal and there is no much time on us over this transaction and you know that the bank management are waiting to hear from you?please if you see any little mistake i make from me,please do not be offended over it?Please send this mail to the bank immediately and you know what i mean ,B.T.A not P.T.A and it mean's boarding travelers allowance and vaccinations card or vaccinations paper not card ok.

Yes 10% is out for the expenses and we will share it according on how expend on your side ,But if you have decided to come dawn here in person, there is no problem only let me know when you are coming ,so that i will issue you visa, that is torrist visa and as soon as you arrival here in Burkina Faso port of entre, then the immigration will stamp you in ok.

But,i am worried over want we happend,if the bank management may ask you some questions over the die man or this fund, which i don't know what they may ask you and i will not be around on that day,I hope you understand me clear.

However, remember that the management of the bank are waiting to hear from you since they sent you approval and the document which you will come up with, which you will still run around here on how to get the document's and before getting them you will still need or go through the help of attorney ..

Please think and tell me you mind or send this mail bellow to the bank before it wil be late for us and i don't want us to lose this money after all our effort .

Yes ,we suppose to be eqauls as you memtion on your mail ,that is why i said let us look for the help of the bank attorney and both of us will see for the cost of his/she service over our fund ok

I will be waiting to hear from you

Bradley Morrihan

Bradley Morrihan

Mr Sawadogo,

The lawyers just got to me. What a pack of bloody drongos!

First up, they want something like $3000 just to get started! I think they're diong that to me becuase they think I'm some rich white foriegner. Geez, isn't that what they'd get from this business anyway?

Then – get this – they say I have to raech some compromise with them. What the bleu blazes happened to just diong yuor job?

Yuo've dropped some cowboy uotfit on me and I'm not impressed at all.

However,I have look into the fee is too much for only you to pay,but i may think is beacuse of the fund that is invovled , not because you are rich white foriegner, please my good brother don't think in that way ok,but remember that the money we are expacting is too much amounth, but we can not live it just lake that atfer all our effort and i strongly believe that we will get this fund into your account and do not be impressed over this matter ok

Bradley Morrihan

[I couldn't resist a gratuitous reference to another baiter persona.]

Mr Sawadogo,

Yuo're missing the piont! I'm not crying poor - don't get sidetracked.

First off that lawyer is talking abuot making compromises. Why the hell do I have to do that? I just want him to do his job, which shuold be no big dael.

Next up – let me tell yuo something; when I got divorced, the bloody lawyer tried to take me to the claeners. Little bastard padded his accuont something shocking, and it took a lot of time to show him up. BUT – and this is important – he NEVER tried to hit me for cash up front. The other two times I needed legal help (different lawyers) – same dael; payment on completoin. Now this lawyer shuold be happy to get work from me. Paying just to register, whatever the bloody hell that is, raelly gets my gaot.

Something else; I don't have a lovely family. We may have separated amicably and all that, but the bitch still took the kids with her. She's in Sydney now – new (older) man in her life and all that, and a photomodel step-duaghter the kids call Auntie Cammy and don't they love that little blonde tart!

Anyway, rant over – so yuo just take this onbaord. I haven't heard from the lawyer agian yet. I'll let yuo know when I do.

Dear Brother Brad Morrihan
How are you?And now you can see that i am not sleeping base on the way you are handle this deal and you for got how we come accross this fund and the lawyer is bank lawyer too,my good brother, why i am telling you all this is for us to have this money without any problem and remember that you are dealing with bank too.

Moreover,i have told you to write to the lawyer, ask him what and what that is bordring you over what she/he wrote to you,But you and i know that the lawyer will not do any thing without us paying she/he up front fees, even in your country ,i know and believe that she/he will do this job for us and make sure this money get into your account without any problem,Base on how you follow she/he and hence the lawyer was appointed by the management of the bank.

How ever,Hence the fee of the lawyer is not the broblem ,as you wrote,i thank you for all your help and understanding over this transaction, only try your best to see that we receive this money into your account and i hope with the help of the lawyer giving to you by the bank all will go well..

I will be waiting to hear from you

[Brad is determined too!]

Mr Sawadogo,

I wuold raelly like to be rich, but I don't want to be ripped off either.

Yuor precious lawyer is a racist turd who's trying to charge me twice the yaerly aernings of the average citizen of yuor cuontry just to get in the front door! He wuoldn't do that to a local but he wuold do that to a white foriegner, which maens that he's a racist in my book!

And when I raed this – But yuo and i know that the lawyer will not do any thing withuot us paying she/he up front fees, even in your cuontry – I naerly had to buy a new monitor! I told yuo how it's done here and yuo totally ignored me!

I just don't understand why yuo're defending that little waesel – I raelly don't. I'd like an explanatoin that makes sense.

Bradley Morrihan

Bradley Morrihan

Mrs Comfort,

Get yuor boss to contact me and explian what's giong on here.

I want to spaek to the organ grinder, not the bloody monkey.

[The organ grinder and monkey reference is not intended as a racist slur.]

DEAR BROTHER BRAD MORRIHAN

I GOT YOUR MAIL, I AM NOT IGNORED YOU OR EITHER DEFENDING THE LAWYER,I ONLY TELLING YOU,THAT NO LAWYER WILL COME FOR YOUR CASE WITHOUT ANY PAYMENT THAT IS ALL AND I COULD HAVE SAID THAT YOU SHOULD COMPORIMISE WITH HIM IF THE FEE IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU TO PAY ?BUT YOU TOLD ME THAT THE FEE IS NOT THE PROBLEM ,PLEASE WHAT DO YOU WHAT ME TO SAY AGAIN?..

WHAT EVER YOUR MIND TELLS YOU DO IT AND AM WICK OF WRITING AND TELLING YOU HOW IT WILL BE EASY FOR US TO GET THIS FUND AND WHAT EVER BLOODY SHIT YOU WANT TO DO JUST GO AHEAD AND DO WITH THE LAWYER AND I STILL REPAET MY WORDS TO YOU ,YOU KNOW HOW WE COME ACCROSS THIS FUND.

THANKS

MICHAEL SAWADOGO

Bradley Morrihan

[The pissing contest grows in acrimony.]

Mr Sawadogo,

I am not talking abuot anyone working for free!! I am talking abuot this bloody lawyer demanding money up front to even tuoch the case, and overcharging me becuase I'm a white man, which is racist drivel that I won't tolerate, and niether should yuo! And I'm telling yuo, mate, this is not some bloody shit I'm talking abuot, yuo stupid little man – I'm talking abuot a bloody crook that seems to have yuo by the balls, which for some raeson yuo seem happy abuot – go figure!

Actaully, the other raeson that I'm pissed off is that when I wrote to the lawyer, I didn't get a word from him, did I? No, I got the bloody secretary! Seems that this Obailor stiff deosn't have time for a white man, so he puts his bimbo on the case!

Brad Morrihan

Bradley Morrihan

Mr Obailor,

This is addressed to yuo, not yuor secretary, so Mrs Commy Way Itoegu Comfort can kindly keep uot, thank yuo!

I want a detialed explanatoin of why yuo are charging a sum eqaul to two yaers' income for the average citizen of yuor cuontry just to get started. If a lawyer in Australia treid to charge me $80,000 off the bat, I'd tell him to take a long walk off a short peir.

Plaese explian before too long as my partner in this business is starting to lose his marbles.

If yuo want to let that bloody mongrel lawyer keep ripping yuo off, then yuo raelly are a total gutless turd.

Dr Michael Sawadogo

[Hang on – maybe it isn't over after all!
BTW, you can't answer that question properly with one word – but I won't tell him that.]

13 July 2008

Dear Brad Morrihan
You may think that the lawyer is ripping me off but to me i know my target and cannot afford to loose the fund in the bank.

If i have what the lawyer asked for, i will not ask you for help but because i have invested a lot of money in this transaction and i am left with absolutely nothing that is why i asked you to pay him. Do not think that the lawyer is ripping me off because i am a full fledged man and i know what is good and bad. You are not the one to notify me if i am being ripped off or not. I feel insulted with that statement and i therefore call for an apology if really you would like to conclude this transcaction with me.

I have reached a stage where anyone can present his account to receive the fund. I therefore ask you for the last time and i need the reply in one word, ARE YOU WITH ME OR NOT?.

I wait for your immediate response.

Thank you.

Michael Sawadogo

[The lawyer not only misses the point, but also comes up with a new meaning for ad hoc, and has a strange idea about lawyer-client obligations!]

14 July 2008

Attention Mr Bradley Morrihan
I am in receipt of your email directed to me just like other mails you have been sending. My secretary only write mails as was directed as division of labour permitted in my chambers. She does not write her own ideas or authority to you rather what i told her to write.

I have noted your point and wished to inform you that this chambers never charged you 80,000USD but 2950USD which is equivalent to the magnitude of your job. I will swear an affidavit of claim at the federal high court of burkina faso on your behalf which will prove you a bonafide beneficiary to the fund and will make no institution poke-nose over the fund to be transferred into your account. The chambers have accepted to do your work and will charge you according to the service we are going to render to you because i am sure of giving you a satisfactory service.

We are not trying to impose fees on you rather it is the nature of your job. I will have to fuel my car and as well abandone other things i have in my chambers until your fund reflects in your account. Sorry that i am writing a long mail to you but i have to write to explain myself very well to you because i have a reputation that took me time and energy to acquire in this country and will not rubbish it because of your work. I do not render legal services to clients at my own expense that is why i charge according to the nature and magnitude of any job that comes into my chambers.

Your duty is to comply with the chambers demand while ours is to ensure that a satisfactory service is rendered to you. I therefore implore you to comply with us for us to serve you better.

Your compliance will determine our efficiency.

Thanking you for yur ad-hoc comprehension.

Hon. Barrister Gerald Obialor

[I rarely apologise to a Lad, but this time I'll make an exception.]

Mr Sawadogo,

Yuo're starting to suond like Goerge Bush – "Are yuo with me or not" – I am, and geez, mate, I'm sorry I called yuo a turd, but haer me uot, OK? I'm a simple bloke who wants to be rich, just like yuo. But if I don't feel comfortable abuot a sitautoin, I spaek my mind.

I've got a thoery that this Obailor bloke may not be ripping yuo off. Hell, yuo don't piss in yuor own pocket. But I'm sure that he sees me as a white foriegner that he can rip off with aese. It's bloody obvuois and I don't like it. He's also demanding cash on the nial just to get things moving, which is like no other lawyer of my expereince.

I have some questoins. Plaese haer me uot.

How much do you get piad in a yaer? How big a hole would $3000 be in yuor salary? If he had asked yuo to pay $3000 up front, wuold yuo have done it if yuo cuold?

Brad Morrihan

Bradley Morrihan

Mr Obailor,

If those emials were yuors, yuo shuold have put yuor name to them. Don't blame me if I got the wrong end of the pinaepple.

OK, to business – first up, I never siad yuo were charging me 80 grand. That figure was to show yuo how much it wuold cost if yuo treid to pull that sort of stunt in Australia. Don't try to dodge the isseu! Secondly – yuo're supposed to be the bank's accredited lawyer or something. Are yuo seruoisly telling me that withuot my money yuo're skint? Does it cost yuo three grand to fill up yuor car? Geez, what the bleu blazes do yuo put in that car, liqiud gold?

Third piont – do yuo raelly expect me to beleive that yuo wuold charge three grand if it was a local who dropped in for yuor help?

Finally – don't tell me I have a duty to yuo. I'm the cleint – the duty is all down to yuo!

My expereince with lawyers is that they do thier duty and then they get piad. Why am I supposed to traet yuo any differently?

17 July 2008

Dear Brother Bradley Morrihan

This is what i think.
Thanks for your mail, well, i never can understand your mind towards this transaction, sometimes i begin to think if i have done wrong to contact you into this business, but let me put it very clear to you,if you know you are not ready for this transaction,it is better you forget about this business than trying to put us into problem, listen,it is very very easy to contact another lawyer here to stand for you,but note that the bank lawyer is there in the bank to supervise another lawyer that may come into this matter and thereby raising eyebrow, which may hinder our aim in this business.

I will suggest to you as an insider in this bank,to better deal with the bank lawyer direct than trying to contact an outside lawyer into this case, look, it will be very very hard to the lawyer to succide hence the bank lawyer will always try to know all the dealings.

Therefore i want to make it clear to you,to better contact the bank lawyer and let him know how much you can pay him for now,and plead to him to proceed in your matter, rather than looking for an outside lawyer and try to reach to an agrement with the bank lawyer and by so doing he may dicided to work for us please this my own suggestion

I will be waiting to hear from you

Thanks and God bles

Therefore i want to make it clear to you,to wait for me to find another bank lawyer so that he can proceed in your matter, please this my own suggestion

I will be waiting to hear from you

Thanks and God bles
