[WHEE! A Lad! Let's reply, and see what's what, shall we?...]

I have a friend who received a mail from you, and since he has been in a bit of trouble lately, health-wise, so he can't respond to your request for assistance. He forwarded your mail to me, and if I can make some money, he said he wants a commission. Ha ha. As IF!!!

If there is some way I could help you, I may be interested. I have a rather small mill, so perhaps I can use your goods.

Will you give me more info?

Thanks, Daniel Sherbunzoff

DANIEL (DAN) SHERBUNZOFF

[I looked up "cotton linter", it's the fibrous seed-covering...]

Karim,

I am glad to read your reply, as I arrive at my mill early, and have a chance to read and answer all my mails. Thank you for your prompt action.

I am very interested in all three products, but I have to know from where this cotton comes? Is it Egyptian cotton and by-products?

As you are probably aware, Egyptian cotton is generally supposed to be the finest in the world, but my customers are also quite interested in the fine Pima cotton that grows in our Southwest, primarily in Arizona, USA.

Will you give me a price list of:

1) Fine cotton seeds
2) Cotton LINTER
3) Raw cotton

I can mill this raw cotton, and use the linter as industrial milled-goods.

I am very glad to make your acquaintance, and I will thank my friend for the referral to you.

My best to you, Daniel Sherbunzoff

[Wait a week, then news that tragedy has struck...]

Dear Karim,

Sorry this took so long, but we had a major problem Wednesday at the mill.

The #3 Separator developed a short circuit, (says the Fire Marshall, who just submitted his report to me yesterday afternoon) that started a big fire, and we lost just about all the cotton we had stored at the warehouse next to the mill, which was destroyed. More than 300 people are out of work, but nobody was killed--that's the only good thing that came out of this disaster!

Now I KNOW I am interested in your cotton goods! I will need an accurate account of all the cotton seeds, linter, and raw cotton.

Just exactly what will I get for only $750? Get back to me just as soon as you can, I really need to get my business going again.

Thanks, Daniel Sherbunzoff

[~sigh~ Must respond immediately...]

Dear Karim Yaba,

I was just composing a letter to you, I was wondering what had happened to YOU! when I received your mail this morning. I remember writing to you that we had a big fire at the mill 3 weeks ago, that hundreds of people affected by it. I told you that I was very interested in the cotton you have for sale, and I asked specifically WHAT I would get for the $750 you requested. I never got any reply from you, so I assumed you weren't interested in doing business with me.

Now you're asking me why I haven't written? I did write, but you didn't respond. It is YOU who is at fault.

[A nudge is needed...]

Dear Karim Yaba,

Remember I told you about the friend who recommended that I respond to you about the cotton and by-products you have for sale? Remember I told you he had some health problems?

Well, the reports from the tests that were taken on him last Tuesday came back from the Lab yesterday, and I'm afraid that he was diagnosed with "Cantakerous Tungstens"! It is very rare...and does not respond to drugs. Most doctors agree that the only treatment is a complete Tungstectomy--NOT an easy surgery, and the specialist is very expen$ive!

The after-effects are very serious and sometimes shocking. I read a little about this disease, and discovered that more than 5 years ago, a man had this operation, and within only a few days after he came home, he acquired an unnatural love for lavender velvet, so he changed his entire wardrobe to velvet caftans! All his body hair fell out, in 2 months, he gained about 150#, and he enrolled in the "Creative Interior Design and Decor School"! He changed his name to "Violet Pann" to match his new wardrobe. As I told you, Karim, the story is very shocking!

After the bizarre transformation, his wife left him, and took all his money! She took him for millions!!

I am so concerned and worried about my friend, I don't want the same thing to happen to him. But, I'm trying to stay focused on my business, and this possible business we have with your cotton, but I'm finding it more and more time-consuming.

You still haven't answered my question. What will I get for the $750 you ask for?

Thanks for your time,
Daniel Sherbunzoff

[I've been out of the loop for a week, but I'm ba-a-a-a-ack!... The Lad needs another nudge...]

Dear Karim Yaba,

Even the most dependable computers can sometimes have problems. My trusty machine crashed last Wednesday, and I have only yesterday got up and running with a new computer I bought.

Not too much new to report, except that most of my business information, and all of my personal documents are lost. When the computer crashed, there was no doubt that everything was destroyed.

Please let me know about the cotton you want to sell me. Thank you.

Dear Karim Yaba,

I am wondering why you have not responded to my last mail.

Should I assume that you are no longer interested in doing a business deal with me? Do you have the cotton goods or not?

I am waiting to hear from you.

Dear Karim Yaba,

Thank you for the composition data, it is very adequate,

Crop year : 2006-2007
Peak Season : October to May

Karim, I am concerned about goods that are 3 years old, are they not moldy or rotted by now, have they simply been sitting in some warehouse, to be attacked by worms or mold? I would be more interested in cotton that is fresh-cropped, as it still has to survive a journey across the ocean, and the distance to my mill.

It seems the amounts of cotton goods for sale are very large.

Quantity : 3000 MT/Month

Do you expect me to purchase the entire quantity? This appears to be more than I can handle, with the #3 separator out of commission for at least another month, I was looking for something like 100 tons. Would you be interested in a smaller proposal?

I am going to assume that you are talking METRIC TONNES, when you use the MT reference. How much American dollars does this translate to? Get back to me with photos and the information as soon as possible. I want to conclude this business soon.

Don't forget the photos, and send one with YOU in the picture, so I know with whom I'm dealing. It would be very reassuring if you will hold a paper with your name Karim Yaba, on it.

Thanks, Dan Sherbunzoff, DanSher Textiles, INC.
