Original scam letter sent to "Colonel Parker Sanders":

Dear Sir,

REQUEST FOR YOUR UNRESERVED ASSISTANCE

Firstly, I must solicit your confidence in this transaction, this
is by virtue of its nature as being utterly confidential and top
secret. Though I know that a transaction of this magnitude will
make any one apprehensive and worried, but I am assuring you that
all will be well at the end of the day.We have decided to contact
you due to the urgency of this transaction, as we have been reliably
informed of it's swiftness and confidentiality.

Let me start by first introducing myself properly to you. I am Mr.
FREDRICK JOHNSON, a Manager at the Union Bank Nigeria PLC, Lagos. I
came to know of you in my private search for a reliable and reputable
person to handle a very confidential transaction, which involves
the transfer of a huge sum of money to a foreign account requiring maximum
confidence.

A foreigner, Late Engineer William Adams, an oil Merchant /contractor
with the federal Government of Nigeria, until his death three years
ago in a ghastly air crash, banked with us here at the Union Bank
PLC,Lagos, and had a closing balance of USD$22.2M (Twenty-Two Million,
Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) which the bank now
unquestionably expects to be claimed by any of his available foreign next of
kin
or alternatively be donated to a discredited trust fund for arms
and ammunition at a military war collage here in Nigeria.

Fervent valuable efforts are being made by the Union Bank to get
in touch with any of late Engr. William Adams's next of kin (he
had no known wife and children) that the management under the influence
of our chairman, board of directors, Retired Major General Kalu
Uke Kalu, that an arrangement for the fund to be declared "UNCLAIMABLE"
and then be subsequently donated to the trust fund for Arms and
Ammunition, which will further enhance the course of
war in Africa and the world in general.

In order to avert this negative development, myself and some of
my trusted colleagues in the bank now seek for your permission to
have you stand as late Engr.WILLIAMS ADAMSs next of kin so that
the fund, USD$22.2M, would be subsequently transferred and paid
into your bank account as the beneficiary next of kin. All documents
and proves to enable you get this fund have been carefully worked
out and we are assuring you a 100% risk free involvement. Your share
would be 30% of the total amount. 10% has been set aside for expenses,
while the rest would be for myself and my colleagues for purposes
in your country. If this proposal is OK by you and you do not wish to take
advantage of the trust we hope to bestow on you and your company, then kindly
get to me immediately via my e-mail address furnishing me with your
most confidential telephone, fax and e-mail, so that I can forward
to you the relevant details of this transaction.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated co-operation.

Regards.

I wish to acknowledge the reciept of your mail seeking for our assistant in
recovering your late relation's assets which are currently being held by the
Union Bank of Nigeria Plc.

Of a truth I was aware of a foriegn contractor who died last three years by
name Mr. William Adams whose relatives were no where to be find. And I also
heard from the headquaters of Union Bank of Nigeria that his money will be
included to the Unclaimed accounts which will be transferred to the Military
account this quaters. But I am not
really sure if they finally transferred the money to the Military account. So
before I will accept this job, I will like to investigate properly on the
account before taking up the job. so that I will not end up doing a blind job.
So forward to me our phone and fax number so that I can get back to you with
the result of my investigation and our conditiond for work.

Good day sir,
Thank you for your immediate response. I am enclosing my telephone number as
requested (here in West Virginia we are a little behind the times and
therefore, I do not have a facsimile). Although it appears that I am the next
of kin to the Late Engineer William Adams, I currently reside in the hills of
West Virginia. It is here (after leaving Kentucky) that I was able to
formulate my original eleven herbs and spices (something that the Late Engineer
William Adams would have enjoyed tremendously).
It is unfortunate that the Late Adams is no longer with us, however, as the
saying goes, "one man's loss is another man's gain." In some respects it is
unfortunate because knowing of Mr. Adam's fondness for seasoned popcorn only
brings sadness to my heart as I know my eleven herbs and spices would have
complimented this.
As for you, I am more than happy to provide you with a sampling (although the
eleven herbs and spices are a secret) if you are interested. Here in West
Virginia, my famous spices are a hit among the local contractors.
As stated, here is the information you so requested:

Good day,

known throughout West Virginia for my famous eleven herbs and spices. If you

Attn: Parker Sanders,

After due investigations on the account of your late relations, I found out
that the money was meant to be transferred to the Military account by Friday
this week, and every necessary documents for the transfer has be made
available, but with my position as the senior Advocate of the Union Bank of
Nigeria, I was able to stop the transfer, pending on when you will present your
bank particulars where you would want your money to be wired to. Meanwhile you
have to understand that the earlier the better for you. Attached here is the
last statement of account of late Engineer William Adams, which I demanded
from the bank.

Now that I have investigated and discovered that the money really exist, I will
need to secure some documents from the Federal high court here in Nigeria like
statement of claim, letter of administration, affidavit of claim, and stamp
duty and some other documents that the bank will demand from you, which means
that we have to be mobilized properly before we can start our job and we are
going to give you our working condition on your demand.

And I will also require a certified letter of power of Attorney that will
prompt me to represent you here in Nigeria as your Lawyer(Attorney).

I await your urgent response.

Yours Sincerely

 ATTN, Parker Sanders,

I thank you for prompting me to be your attorney. view the attached Form of
Power of Attorney which you will copy, stamp and sign by you and also provision
for our conditions, we are advocates and solicitor at law and we have help
many other beneficiaries to claim funds from most countries with economical
restriction on foreign exchange control and transfer. Consequently, we often
have to make sure that the money is paid using all necessary apparatus to make
sure that this is done and on time too, even if it amount traveling to anywhere
on behalf of the beneficiary to check and expedite documents that are necessary
for the effective remittance of the fund.

For this, we have a service charge; this charge is normally 1% of the total
sum; which in your case is $240,000US. This charge is payable only upon the
receipt of the fund by the beneficiary. However, you will be obliged to pay
our consultation fee of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000US) of which five
thousand dollars ($5,000US) is payable immediately as handling charges to
enable us raise the necessary documents to transfer the fund from Union Bank to

to 14 working days. Please confirm that this condition is agreeable with your

Good day sir,
I have completed the attached power of attorney form. Where should I send it?
As for banking details, I have an account at First National of West Virginia -
Account number 323-109823-23.
You mention a $5,000 consultation fee. Although this seems mighty steep, I am
prepared to pay this money conditioned on this transaction being completed.
Again, where should I send the power of attorney and money?
How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Mighty hot here in West Virginia.
Although, nothing my eleven herbs and spices couldn't fix on some chicken or
ribs to make them finger lickin' good though. Thank goodness I have a white
suit on. Otherwise, I'd be a burnin' up down here.
Keep me posted ya here!
The Colonel

Good day sir,
What's on ground mean? We don't use that _expression here in West Virginia.
The lawyer, well he is fine. I have contacted him and given him my banking
information. I am awaiting further instructions from him.
Once again, for you kind and generous hospitality, I would like to send you a
sampling of my eleven herbs and spices. It makes the chicken fingern licken'
good! Hopefully, at the conclusion of this transaction, we will be able to get
together (that is if you don't mind an old man in a white suit). As I've said
