(SOGEQUIP/Firstnet, Benin) Mon, 27 Jun 2005

Dearest: Friend,

My Name is Mr.JONES MAGORO a credit officer with the one of the leading (Finance Trust House) here in Cotonou Republic Du Benin. In my department i discovered an abandoned funds (USD 12 M) in an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer (MR. ANDREAS SCHRANNER from Munich, Germany) who died along with his entire family in July 2000 in a plane crash.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/859479.stm

Since i got information about his death, I have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unless some body applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidlings and laws but unfortunately we learnt that all his supposed next of kin or relation died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim. It is therefore upon this discovery that I now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and we don't want this money to go into the bank treasury as unclaimed bill.

The banking law and guidline here stipulates that if such money remained unclaimed after Six years, the money will be transfered into the bank treasury as unclaimed fund. The request of foreigner as next of kin in this business is occassioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and an Indigenecannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner.

Your percentage will be declare to you as soon as you indicate your interest.I will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentage indicated

[This is of course the old tired Dead Bank Customer.]

Here the DBC stops, but I replied anyway. What the heck...

Dear Sir:

This interests me. What's involved?

Magoro Jones,

This sounds like a good deal. I did tell my brother Tommy about this opportunity, I hope that won't be a problem. He's a real good guy, a little "quick on the trigger" sometimes, but he's been taking some classes in anger management, so he'll be all right.

My name: Raymond Anzio Gunn

Phone number: 2024355031 (no FAX number, sorry)

My age: 54 Tommy is 52. We operate our own little business, "The Gunn Shop", which is a small-arms retailer and appliance-repair shop. We live in Gatling, Wyoming.

Is this sufficient for your needs at this time?

How much money are you talking about? Thousands? 35% of say, $10,000 is a nice hunk of dough. We'd be interested in something like that.

Hello Mr.Raymond Gunn,
Sir,
I am barrister Jean Sako attorney to Mr.Jones Magoro,i have submitted all the relevant documents required for
the smooth conclusion of the transaction,
I am aware that Mr.Jones send you a form which you supposed to fill and send to the remittance department, attention to Mr.Martins Dossou, to my great surprised yesterday evening when Mr.Dossou called and said he will forward the mail he received from my client Mr.Raymond Gunn, infact the mail look so childish it's like we are not serious with the claim, but why whould you send such thing to the Director of International remittance department, i
asked you to fill that form and resend it through fax line so that it will look authentic, I just inform Mr.Magoro about it this morning,
Mr.Raymond you need to do it as soon as possible.
My best regards
Barrister Jean Sako.

So, I send an apologetic note to both parties (who just happen to use the same 'puter as Jones Magoro)...

RAY GUNN

There was a glitch in the scanner's e-mail application. With a little extra work, I am able to send it in PDF form.

I appreciate you sending the form as it arrived to you, now I see what went wrong with sending the application. No wonder you thought it looks "childish" and like "rubbish" (although I admit that when I first read those reactions, I was highly insulted at your attitudes, and nearly told you both to forget about the whole thing!)

You must be aware that I did not do this on purpose! It was an accident, a small problem with the scanner-device. I would not presume to toy with you in this matter, nor would I try to promote hard feelings.

I apologize for the delay.

Dear Jones Magoro,

It is not necessary to send mail twice. Just hit the "Send" ONCE!!!!

I know you must be in a very great hurry to secure this money, as you apparently did not read over your mail to correct any mistakes. This shows a great lack of respect for the person you are addressing, that you will send out sloppy and foolish-looking mail.

It also makes me think that you are not a well-educated man, the kind of person that has no business in a position of importance. Is this the case? Are you in such a blundering big hurry, or are you naturally sloppy, or do you just not care about the recipient of your correspondence?

Ray Gunn

And...

RAY GUNN

Dear Martins Dossou,

I will wire the money this afternoon.

Meanwhile, I would seriously re-consider your relationship with Jones Magoro. He sends out mail that looks as though he is drunk!

Is he drinking on his job? Perhaps you should contact his superiors, and inform them of the poor quality of his correspondence. I received a mail from him this morning, that looks as though it has been written by a drunken fool!

He did, however, give a glowing recommendation of your secretary, Roselin Glokpon, but I don't know if I can trust his words if he is a drunkard.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Martins Dossou,

I sent Tommy with the money to Western Union yesterday, and I haven't heard from him since he left our shop at 4:30!

I have notified the local sheriff to round up a posse to search for him, I gave Sheriff O'Nottingham a list all the people he knows, and the pubs he frequents, but Sheriff couldn't round him up.

I am getting worried, I hope he wasn't waylaid by thugs. He had the money in large bills, and I sure hope he didn't go waving all that cash around!

Anyway you better check well maybe he travel to London because there is explosion in London last two days,

Thanks

RAY GUNN

Jones Magoro,

I am appalled at this mail of yours, and your uncaring attitude! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, a man who drinks on the job the way you do, is bound to have a total disregard for anybody else's worries. Even your co-worker Dossou is keeping you under surveillance, so that your employers will know when you are drunk, and then you will be out of a job!

You say you doubt my story? Well, good for you, mister--you and I are finished! I prefer to work with Dossou anyway, At least he is a sober man, and he seems to respect me and my concern for my brother Tommy.

For your information, we did find Tommy. Just as I suspected, he visited a local bar "for a cold one", and started waving around all that cash, and when he went to get into his car, he was grabbed by a couple of guys, beaten, and robbed. He is lying in the hospital now with bruises all over, and a broken nose. It's a wonder they didn't kill him--people have been murdered for less money than he had on him.

I hope you're happy, you didn't believe me when I said Tommy disappeared, and now look at what happened!

Dear Mr.Raymond Gunn,

I received your mail, well I'm not surprised for what you said, but how can a matured person like Tommy with mess himself up while he knows the important of what you send him, infact I'm not happy at all with the stories, before we obtain all the relevant documents that back up this transaction I gave my lawyer US$3,850 to get all the documents from the police central division here in Cotonou, the doctor report which my lawyer obtain from the general hospital and other documents he obtain from the high court of justice all this documents made the claims so authentic and that is reason the management of this Bank did not doubt the anything about the claim, they approve the money immediately,

now that we have get to the finally stage look at how and your brother are to handle the transaction,I told you from the day one that this an opportunity which we have to try all our best to grab it,and with this transaction we have secured a future for our generations,

I don't see any reason he will go and started drinking and even to spend the money you gave him for an important purpose, I'm here praying day and night for us to conclude this transaction soon and start living a good life he has the mind to drink and even wave away the money you gave for something that will change the life of everyone of us.infact I don't have sorry for him is a foolish man.

Jones Magoro

Jones Magoro,

I have finally calmed down enough to reply to your insulting mail. How dare you write those bad things about my brother? Who do you think you are? You come to me asking for my help, then you do nothing but hurl insults and slurs! Forget you, man!

I do not wish to have anything more to do with you. From here on, I will correspond only with Martins Dossou.

Good bye.

Ray Gunn

RAY GUNN

Dear Martins Dossou,

Thank you for your letter of concern for my brother Tommy. I have spent every minute I could, by his side in the hospital. He has lapsed into a deep coma, and the doctors fear the worst. It seems that those thugs who attacked Tommy kicked him repeatedly in the head, and he suffered several other serious injuries.

At first they weren't noticeable, as the bruises were under his hair, but the extent of this damage became obvious when they examined him thoroughly.

I heard from Jones Magoro yesterday, and he wrote such insulting things about my brother! I am appalled that he would be so unkind and unsympathetic to somebody who has suffered such a trauma! I will not write to him again, I am firmly convinced that Magoro is the worst kind of a drunkard, who cares nothing for anyone else, only himself. You should have him fired IMMEDIATELY!

I do not know when I will be able to write again.

Ray Gunn

Dear Mr. Raymond Gunns,

How are you,it is quit a long time.well I am happy to inform you about my success in getting the funds transferred under the cooperation of a new partner from Singapore. Presently i'm in Singapore with my lawyer for investment projects with the money Meanwhile,I didn't forget your past efforts and attempts to assist me in transferring those funds despite that it failed us due to the way you handle the matter at that time,

Now I want you to contact the secretary, her name is Rose Glokpon and her email address is rglokpon24@yahoo.fr ask her to send you the draft of US$650.000.00 (Six hundred and fifty thousand United States dollars) which I kept on a sealed envolop for your compensation for all the past efforts and attempts to assist me in this regards. I appreciated your efforts at that time very much.

So feel free and get in touch with the secretary Rose Glokpon and instruct her where to send the the draft to you.

Please do let me know immediately you receive it so that we can share the joy after all the sufferness at that time.at the moment I am very busy with my lawyer and our new partner because of the investment projects we have at hand,

Finally, remember that I had forwarded instruction to the secretary on your behalf to receive that draft, so feel free to get in touch with Rose Glokpon and She will send it to you without any delay.

Regards

RAY GUNN

Ms. Rose Glokpon:

I have been directed by Jones Magoro, to contact you in regard to payment of $650,000.00 to me.

You are in possession of an envelope containing this payment, and if you will reply soon, I will give you my banking particulars, so that this money can be transferred to me for my participation in Magoro's business.

Ray Gunn

[And a note to Magoro...]

RAY GUNN

Jones Magoro:

I can't tell you how surprised I was to see mail from you this morning!

When I didn't hear from you again, following the death of my brother Tommy, I assumed that you wouldn't want to intrude on my grief, and then we just lost touch. If you will recall, after reading your cold-hearted and callous observations about the tragedy that befell my brother, I was extremely angry at you, and I told you that I would only communicate with Martins Dossou.

I wrote to Ms. Glokpon, and upon her reply, I will send her my banking particulars.

Hello Ray Gunn,

Good morning sir, I just read your message now, well Mr.Jones Magoro instructed me to send a seal envelope contain draft to you whenever you contact me, I would like to inform you that is not possible for me to pay the draft into any Bank here, and also is impossible to send it through Western Union money transfer to you because is not Cash,

So I have enquired about DHL courrier service they said that the cost of delivery and Insurance of the parcel to your place is $235.00 Two Hundred and thirty five Dollar, you need to send your full contact addressa and the money for the delivery and Insurance so that I will send the draft to you immediately. or you can arrange and come down to here and pick it yourself I believe that should be even more better.
Thanks
Rose Glokpon.

RAY GUNN

My dear Ms. Glokpon:

What a pleasure to finally hear from you, I have been awaiting some contact from you for several months, your employers, Magoro and Martins Dossou, both speak highly of you, and they say that you are a nice lady both in and out of the office, and "100% OK".

I wonder if I came to your offices to collect my share of these funds, perhaps we could get together for some out-of-the-office-"niceness". Your employers probably would not object to you showing me some extra gratitude for my participation in this transaction, would they? I have in mind some delightful romps in my hotel suite, I would be lodging at your finest hotel, of course, would you make the reservations, or should I?

My passport is in perfect order, and I can travel to your location within a very few days.

Will you please write and tell me if this proposition is acceptable?

In any event, my payment should be addressed to me:

Waiting your immediate reply,

I remain, Ray Gunn, your admirer from USA

Dear Raymond,

It would have be nice as you suggested, but I'm sorry it will not work out the way you think

Well I will be very happy to receive you in my office but I will not be able to go out with you to be sincere with you my traditional marriage will take place on Saturday 31st of this month, so is like I'm hooked up by someone, please don't be annoyed I hope you will understand my situation.

Thanks and God bless us.

Rose Glokpon.

RAY GUNN

Dear Ms. Glokpon,

Hearty congratulations to you on your impending marriage! I am sure you will be a lovely bride, and I hope your husband-to-be realizes what a decent, moral lady you are, and appreciate this treasure you give him, your loyalty!

That being said, I will arrive in Benin next Monday, 12December. Please give me the exact address of your office, or dispatch someone to meet me at the airport when I deplane. He should be holding a large sign with my name on it, RAY GUNN. I will send you the exact time of my arrival, as soon as I get it from the airline.

Thank you, and again, I send my congratulations to you, and best wishes.

Ray Gunn

ROSE GLOKPON

Dear Mr.Raymond,

Thanks a lot for your courage I really appreciate that, as regards to your arrangement to come down here and about the address you asked note that here in Benin Republic there is no road or street address, you can confirm that from Benin Embassy in your country,

After reading your mail this morning I decided to make some little inquiry about the possibility of you receiving the draft through our affiliate Bank in London our foreign remittance manager he told me that is possible, according the his explanation their will keep this draft and instruct their fiduciary agent in London to raise a draft worth that amount for you,so instead of you coming down here you will only travel to London and receive the draft.

Meanwhile I will be absent from work till Thursday because tomorrow morning I will travel to my village to finish arrangement about my traditional marriage which I told you. well if you insisted to come I will inform my cousin to meet you in any hotel lodge, but bear in mind that nobody will wait for you at the airport.

Reply and let me know your decision

Thanks

Rose Glokpon.
