Dear Richard,

I have recieved your mail and i am very happy to hear from you i would like to know a bit about yourself what you do and are you married and do you have kids, once i have recived your next mail you have to furnish me with your contact address and phone number and then we can proceed.
The money was deposited by my late father in a security company in europe and since i can not travel of leave where i am right due to unforseen circumstances thats is pulling me down that is why i need you to stand as the beneficiary of the funds i am going to do a change of ownership and the name of depositor from the high court here in mali to your name then you can now contact the security company and collect the money but first before i do anything with you you have to promise me that when you get the money out you would come for me and you have to keep this transaction secret because of the nature of the money at sake and myself.I know once
this money is out i would have a good life again.I would like you to promise me that you would not let me down i need your word on this because this is my life.
F.ADO

RICH LATHER

Dear Frank,

Of course I won't let you down! I need this money as much as you need it. I want to use my share to start my own business, I have a formula that is going to revoluntionize the shampoo industry, and all I need is the startup money.

To answer your questions:

I work for a haircare products company. I've worked for these folks for 18 years, starting in the shipping department, and I've worked my way up to manager of the shampoo development department. It was here that I perfected my formula, and I honestly think that this will be the BIGGEST new product of the decade. You might be interested in investing in my new company. I can guarantee you will be very successful.

And yes, I'm married. My wife Sally Jean and I have5 kids, Lanny 19, Annie 17, Danny 15, Hannah 13, and our "surprise" Mortie, who is 4. Sally Jean and I dated for 2 years in High school, and all through college, and we got married right after we graduated in 1985. Then we had the three older kids, and thought we were done with babies, but along came Mortie, and he is such a delight. So smart and so handsome (if I say so myself--he looks just like me). Are you married yet? I don't suppose so, you being only 24, but maybe you have a girlfriend?

Our address is 37 Yellowbrick Road, Oz, Kansas 37565 I don't think you would be able to reach me by phone, as the lines are tied up all the time, what with the kids on the phone or the computer all the time.

I hope this helps you. I am looking forward to getting this business going.

Dear partner,
I am very happy to recieve your superb mail i am overwhelmed by it i pray all we plan goes well.
This is what i want you to do now first you have to contact the security company first and formost this is the contact number 004479497351 and this is th fax number 448712248651 and the officer in charge is Mr Igho williams this

the email (ighowilliams@europe.com).the name of the security company is Globacom security and finance company uk.When you have contacted them you tell him that you are the beneficiary of the deposite made by my father chief Frank Ado and that you would wish to claim it. When you have contacted them you let me know please and you have to do it immidiately so that we can get this thing over soon.
F.ADO

RICH LATHER

Dear Frank,

I followed your instructions, and tried to e-mail the officer in charge Igho williams, with the address you provided

"...williams this the email (ighowilliams@europe.com).the name of the security company ..."

and the mail couldn't be delivered. How can I write to somebody if I don't have the information? Are you SURE this is a correct address?

Also, you didn't say if you would join me in my business venture. I think my share of the money could "get it off the ground" but YOUR money would really "make it fly". That way, we would be partners in all senses of the word. If you want me to join your transaction, and I want you to join mine, we could base our partnership on mutual trust and dependence on each other.

Does this make sense to you?

Richard Lather

Well, he sends the same (sort of) note twice, 2 minutes apart...

RICH LATHER

Send this to Igho Williams, with a copy to Frank...

Dear Mr. Williams,

I am the beneficiary to the deposit placed in your custody by Chief Ado, who was Minister of Mines and Energy in Sierra Leone before his death at hands of the rebels. I am stating my intention to make claim to that deposit.

Please let me know as soon as possible what has to be done in this matter.

Dear Sir,

I am in receipt of your mail in respect of the deposit made by the late Chief Ado and i have received directive from Mr Frank Ado to deal with you in respect of claiming the deposit with my company. Now according to my records there are some outstanding deposit fees that has been left unpaid due to the death of our client(Chief Ado).He only made an upfront payment of 8months to us before his tragic demise. This fees has to be paid before we can deliver the consignment to you.In light of this i will want you to make available the sum of £15,360 UK pounds to cover this deposit fees(Demur age).Upon receipt of this amount we will now process your file and make necessary provision for delivery to you through our diplomatic service.I will want you to get back to me so that i can give you details of how you can make this payments to us.Thanks and I await your urgent response.

RICH LATHER

Dear Mr. Igho Williams,

When I was first contacted by Frank Ado, and invited to participate in this matter, this was a part of his letter to me:

"...All I want is for you to receive the money and send invitation letter for me to join you.

Your urgent reply will enable me to arrange with the Security Finance Company to move this money through their special Diplomatic Courier Services to your country.

For you to claim it till I will meet you up in your country for my investment.

You are not required to pay or spend your money for anything at all.

All the necessary documents of deposit from the Security Company are with me.

In your reply, please include your telephone and fax numbers.

Thanks for your co-operation.

My best regards
Frank Ado

Now you tell me there is an additional cost of £15,360. I don't understand. I thought all the fees were paid by Chief Ado. I wonder why Frank Ado didn't tell me this. I suppose I could borrow the money, but I think it would take a little time, maybe another week or so.

Regards, Richard Lather

Dear Sir,

Be advice that we deal with Presidents,Ministers and many other wealthy individuals and we pride our selves on our excellent services and confidentiality to all our clients. Our record show that this amount is outstanding on Chief Ado's deposit and needs to be paid before we can deliver the consignment to you.I will think the mistake should come from Mr Frank Ado.Although i do hope you can resolve this matter on time so that we can expedite action on your file and have the consignment ready for delivery to you within the next couple of days.We will be having backlogs of jobs as we approach the end of the calender year that is why we try to be as efficient and prompt with all claims during this period. I will wait for you to get back to me.
Sincerely,
Igho Williams

RICH LATHER

Dear Igho Williams,

I do not keep nearly $29,000.00 just lying around my house. As I wrote yesterday, I would have to borrow the money. I will have to take a 2nd mortgage on my house. Please be patient with me. I just can't pull this kind of dough out of the thin air, you understand.

Richard Lather

Shall we try to stir things up?

RICH LATHER

Dear Frank Ado,

I received a message from Igho Williams, where he seems to blame you for the mistake. Why didn't you tell me that your father had neglected to pay all his storage fees? I think he was not thinking very far into the future, and his failure to insure that you are taken care of, speaks poorly of him, and his business acumen.

Rich Lather spins a tale of mis-adventure and deliverance. Will Frank buy it? Stay tuned...

RICH LATHER

Dear Frank Ado,

Sorry for not writing, I was invited on a "spur-of-the-moment" canoe-trip with my best friends, the Davidson twins. Their names are Harlan and John. We were in some backwoods area about 200 miles south of here, and we had quite the adventure! We lost our canoes and nearly drowned, and were terrorized by some pretty wierd guys, I think they wanted to kill us. We barely escaped with our lives, and got home late last night. We were so tired, but we had to make a report to the police about it.

Anyway, I was telling Harley and John about the business deal you and I are partners in, and they say they will put up the money if you will cut them in on the deal. They also want 20%.

So 20% for me and 20% for them will still leave you with 60%. Is this OK? Will you agree to this? You can trust them, I've known them since we were kids.

Rich L.

Well Richard i trust you and i know you would not let me down you say your friends are intrested in this transaction and they want 20% that means i would be left with 60% talk to them if you all can agree to take 30% and the remaining 70% i would take 30% and the remaining 40% would be for the business we are going into what do you say about this because i belive in the business you talked about i know the busines under your management and expertise would be execellent and grow to a great height.i would be expecting your mail how far have gone with the security company hope all is well i belive in you so stay bless till i hear from you again and stay safe.
Yours truly,
F.ADO

Friday morning, I send out the challenge...

RICH LATHER

Dear Frank Ado,

I talked this over with John and Harley, and they are a couple of stubborn guys. They won't agree to your terms. They say they will put up the money if you will give them 20% above the 20% you are going to give me. That's the last time they will ask for 20%.

If you offer 30% for us, their asking price for their cut will be 25%, and so will mine.

They also said that if you refuse this, they will back away from it so fast that your head will spin.

The ball is in your court. Do you want to continue with this business, or shall we just part company now? Do you want the 15,560 Euro (or $30,000 US) or not?

You should have seen them, dancing around and clapping each other on the back! Really a sight to see.

They're going to their bank as soon as we have a little lunch and drink some champagne to celebrate our good luck.

Your Igho Williams should have the money in a few hours. Tell me exactly what to do. I've never sent money by Western Union, and neither have they.

Dear Mr Richard Lather,
I am in receipt of your recent mail and pleased that you have worked out your side of this transaction with Mr Frank Ado.We can now expedite action on your file and make preparation for delivery of the consignment to you.Below are the details for the transfer of the funds to me using Western Union Money transfer as it is the most efficient and fastest means to get the funds across.

Receiver Name:

Mr, EFE ERIGA IZU.
London,United Kingdom.

Please make the payment in four separate installments. You can send two using your name and the other two using your friends names as they are now partners in this transaction. Please make sure you forward the details of the transaction to me by email ie control numbers, name of sender and the appropriate amount of all the transactions.I await your usual prompt action.
Sincerely,
Igho Williams.

RICH LATHER

Never having sent money by Western Union, questions arise...

Receiver Name:
Mr, EFE ERIGA IZU. Who is this?

London,United Kingdom. Why do I have to send the money to London? I thought the money was in Europe.

Please make the payment in four separate installments. WHY? This is very inconvenient. You better explain the reason for this.

You can send two using your name and the other two using your friends names as they are now partners in this transaction. Do I have to pretend to be them, or should they wire some of the money themselves?

Please make sure you forward the details of the transaction to me by email ie control numbers, name of sender and the appropriate amount How is this done? What are control numbers? Is there any other information we need to know?

IGHO WILLIAMS

Efe Eriga Izu is our accountant and deals with all monetary matters. The funds are here in London United Kingdom as i am sure Mr Frank Ado must be mistaken there to categorise London as Europe having not travelled outside Africa before.

There are specific amount you can send by western union money transfer hence it is more sensible to send it in several transactions. It is not very important for all of you to physically send the money it is just that i wanted to involve them so that they will have that sense of belonging.

What to do now.

Go to western union you will be given a form to fill in the amount you want to send,The receiver name, Sender name and destination. You will be given a receipt that cover that transaction on this receipt all the details are contained the control numbers. It is quite a straight forward process that takes minutes.I trust you can take care of this and get back to me.

Hello Richard what is happenning i have not heard from you.

RICH LATHER

Dear Frank,

The reason this is so late in getting to you, I've been trying to get the Davidson boys out of jail. They were arrested Friday afternoon, right after going to their bank.

Apparently, when withdrawing the money (about $30,000) from their savings account, the bank manager Dan D. Ruff asked them what they needed the money for? They told him the barest details of our deal, and Mr. Ruff started to laugh. At that point, he called his secretary, Miss J. Garland, over and asked her to provide John and Harley with some literature about Nigerian advance-fee frauds. He called them "419-scams", and showed the boys several examples of how these scammers work. The more he told John and Harley, the madder they got.

John and Harley were so angry about nearly being swindled, that they started yelling, and throwing things around the bank! Before they knew what was happening, the secretary Miss Judy called the local police, and the Davidson twins got carted off to jail. I had to post bail for them, and appear in court on their behalf.

When my wife Sally Jean heard about it, she got really upset with me for being so gullible, but she was glad that I didn't put up any of our money. I don't think she will ever let me forget about this episode.

This, of course, is the end of our "deal".

Rich Lather

but it ain't over till the Lads say it's over...

Igho Williams,

Naturally, in light of recent developments, there obviously will be no money coming to you.

I've finally got the Davidson boys out of jail. They were arrested...(same letter as the one to Frank Ado)...let me forget about this episode.

This, of course, is the end of our "deal".

Rich Lather

(These "two" don't give up, do they? These came this AM. I guess Frank has to travel a bit farther than 40km to use the computer in London).

Dear Mr Lather,

Your last mail was somewhat surprising though it is not unexpected as we are aware of fraudulent individuals using vital information from government database to defraud innocent people of their money and i will not blame you if you choose not to go ahead with this deal but let us look at this transaction for a minutes what if this is real and there is no fraud involved then you have just passed up a very profitable business venture. We are a reputable organisation with a proving track record. My suggestion in light of recent development will be for you to come over to The United Kingdom personally to see things for yourself that everything is real we are not scammers.Below are me details for your confirmation.

I am not a Nigerian and this deal has nothing to do with Nigeria as the funds are here in the United Kingdom. Please i will want you have a meeting with your friends to look at possible ways to sort out this matter as you have alot to gain by completing this deal.Mind you it will not cost you anything to come over here to personally collect the funds so the ball is now in your court.I will wait to read from you before i inform Mr Frank Ado to look for another partner to conclude this deal with.I do hope you will reconsider and please feel free to call me should you want to talk with me regarding any area.I must also say here that your friend are not supposed to reveal the details of our deal with any one as i am sure you all will be in trouble if the authorities find out that you have that kind of money in your possession.I have a good solution to sort this out.i Await your reply.

Sincerely,

You also need to have some identification on you showing that you are Mr Richard Lather this is necessary for record purposes and a contact telephone number to enable us reach at short notice.I will wait to hear from you. Thanks

RICH LATHER

Igho Williams,

I did not call you, you must be very troubled by your lack of common sense.

Do you remember that I told Frank Ado and you about the Davidson boys, who were jailed when they became enraged when finding out about the 419 scammers? Do you remember that I mentioned Mr. Dan D. Ruff and Miss Judy Garland of the OZ bank? Do you think I just made that up?

I don't know who called you, but I did not, maybe one of the Davidson boys called you.

If you still want to give me the money, (and perhaps cut Frank Ado OUT of the deal) I will split it with you 60/40--60% for me and the Davidson twins, and 40% for you. I can probably convince John and Harley to put up the money for a plane ticket for me. I checked, and can get a pretty good deal on a round-trip fare to London for around $900.

Let me know if this sounds good to you.

Rich Lather

he just won't let go...

Dear Mr Lather,

I beg to differ with you that i do not understand like you are making out that i am a stupid person.I do not entertain such rudeness and language as i got a call from someone claiming to be you. I was not there to take the call but he left a message on my phone so you tell me if i am making things up or not.I have the highest levels of respect and regard for you and i will expect you to reciprocate accordingly.I do not do things like that as i have not asked for any percentage.Howerver i am very welcome to any gratification from you as i am acting on strict guidlines.I do not expect anything from you as i am only doing my job.If you want to continue with this deal by comming to london fine you can make the arrangments. Please be informed that should you choose to come over you will be required to pay all charges at the point of delivery.I will suggest you talk to those friends of yours to work out something. Please get back to me.Thanks.

Sincerely

Igho Williams,

('naz note: Whaddaya s'pose he means by "gratification", hmmmmmm?)
